Web & E-mail Hosting - Our Level of Service

Sound Solutions can provide an integrated hosting solution for your web site. A cost effective and efficient service is provided to give you peace of mind, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. All of the below are included in our hosting packages as standard. We have our own internet servers and do not resell hosting from any other company.

Reliability

We have servers located in Docklands, London and Frankfurt, Germany. All of our servers are directly connected to networks with multiple fast links to the internet, provided by different national and international companies.

Hosting your web sites with us, means that behind the scenes your web site is stored on one of our primary file servers (in London). Each site is also allocated a backup file server (again in London), and a backup-backup server (in Frankfurt). Each of these file servers stores data across 6 different disk drives. For ultimate reliability, any one of these disk drives can fail and the server will continue to function as normal, with no data loss or interruption in service.

In the very unlikely event that the main server should fail, the backup server is ready to takeover at any given moment. In the even more unlikely event that we should suffer problems with both the main server and the backup server that your web site is stored on, the backup-backup server will takeover from them both, serving your web site as normal with hardly any disruption in service. Each of our physical locations are completely separate and have internet connections provided via completely different networks.

Whilst we almost never have problems with any of our internet servers, we don't take that for granted. We're obsessive about making sure we're prepared should a problem occur. All of our servers are automatically monitored around the clock and if something abnormal is found, our engineers are immediately notified via text message for your peace of mind.

Security

Last year our servers handled over £1½ million worth of e-commerce transactions. This year we expect that figure to more than double. We pride ourselves on the security of our systems and only ever transport sensitive data across the Internet in an encrypted form. We run a very tight firewall system and check daily for security updates on all of the software that we run, updating our systems as necessary. We also make sure we know about major security problems elsewhere on the internet and maintain our systems accordingly. For security, speed and reliability we only run servers with the Debian Linux operating system.

Speed

Your web site will primarily be run from one of our servers located in Docklands, London (widely recognised as the centre of the UK internet). From here we are directly connected to a network with internet connectivity provided by no fewer than seven national and international carriers. This can be compared to a city with seven motorways going into it rather than just one motorway - it's obvious that with seven motorways it's going to be fast to get in and out. Utilising this network, along with state-of-the-art internet servers, we make sure your web site loads onto your visitors' screens about as fast as is possible with today's technology.

Web statistics

Comprehensive visitor statistics are generated daily, allowing you to see how many visitors your web site is attracting, how visitors are finding your site, where your visitors are located (which country), what your visitors are looking for, which sections of your web site are the most popular along with as much more information as it's possible to gather - even down to which hours of the day your web site is used the most.

Backup

We back up all of the web sites that we host twice. One backup occurs every 2 hours and the other once a day. Both backups are completed securely over the internet, allowing us to store each backup in locations hundreds of miles apart.
